A new thrift store in Shelby, NC - Carolina Value Thrift!
Some people get excited about new restaurants coming to town. We get excited when we hear about a new THRIFT store coming to town! This fresh thrifting spot has just opened in Shelby, NC - so of course we had to go check it out. This blog features our thoughts on our experience there. After reading, you will hopefully have an idea if you need to go checkout this store too!
Carolina Value Thrift is located at 1665 E. Dixon Blvd Shelby, NC 28150
What makes this store different from other thrift stores? This chain obtains its merchandise from non-profit organizations, brokers, liquidations, and buy-outs. This means you can expect to find new with tags good from larger retailers throughout the store, in addition to traditional donated items.
Upon walking in, the store was SO MUCH LARGER than I was expecting!!!!!!!! (I’m serious, you could stay here for hours and not see it all) The portion that you can see in the above photo is only about ¼ of the entire store. It is very clean inside. Housewares live on the far right of the store, linens directly behind housewares, men’s at the front, children’s behind men’s. Shoe shelves divide the store in half directly down the middle. Women’s can be found on the left side of the building.
Jumping right in! After I checked out the layout of the store, I browsed the women’s clothing. Something of note is the pricing system of Carolina Value Thrift. Each item is priced individually. I found the prices to be very fair and reasonable. Some were cheaper than competing thrift stores and some of the prices were right in line with their peers.
I was able to find several pieces I was interested in - like this new with tags GAP dress and this vintage Tweety bird golf button up.
Let me reiterate………you could stay here all day. Carolina Value Thrift is so large, that even if it was crowded it wouldn’t feel that way. They put out new items DAILY. Their operating hours are Mon. - Sat., 9AM-9PM and Sunday 11AM-7PM.
Here’s a peek at a portion of the home selection. They had no less than 100 lamps! I’ve never seen that many lamps in one thrift store before (insert laughing emoji here)
I'm currently laughing—or should I say, current-ly laughing?
I would tell you to pack a picnic when you visit this store, but they sell snacks too!
When I headed towards checkout, I was surprised to see a full stock of food and snacks. At checkout, I learned that they offer a rewards program. You receive 1 point per $1 spent and also get special coupons sent to you as well.
I spent $19 and got six items! Some thrift stores have stopped bagging your items, but they still do here! If you have a Carolina Value Thrift store near you, I would definitely recommend going! I enjoyed my experience and was happy with my finds!
