The 3 most important aspects to reselling online fall within these categories. Avoid the pitfall of selling an item at the wrong price to the wrong audience.
Photos
Photos matter. The quality of the photos. The staging. The lighting. The backdrop. The angles. The detail shots.
You can invest in a high quality camera or just use your smartphone. We prefer the iPhone and edit within third party apps.
Price
You want customers to stop the scroll when they see your item. Photos are what will grab their attention.
Once theyโve stopped however the price is the second biggest variable as to whether they buy or move on.
Try to price in or just below the average selling price.
Platform
Each platform will have itโs own set of customers. Are you reaching the right customer with the right platform?
eBay: worldwide market with a variety of customers
Etsy: worldwide market with mostly vintage customers
Poshmark: national market with mostly younger customers
Chairish: national market with mostly older customers
FB Marketplace: local and regional market with customers looking for deas
My biggest tip is to sell on all of them.
If you find sales are stagnant, then I recommend adjusting one of the three Pโs.
Change the price.
Update the photos.
List on a different platform.
